(Min Sun) was one of the 72 best disciples
of Confucius. There is a story about him in the history books.
His mother died when he was very young. His
father took a new wife a few years after his mother's death.
After his father married his stepmother,
his stepmother had two sons with his father.
One winter, (Min Sun's) stepmother made
three new dresses for (Min Sun) and his two younger brothers.
His stepmother filled the inner layers of
two of the clothes with expensive but warm cotton.
His stepmother gave these two clothes to
her two children.
His stepmother filled the inner layer of
another garment with reeds, which were worthless and had no warmth.
His stepmother gave this dress to (Min Sun)
to wear.
About a month later, one day, (Min Sun)
drove his father out in a carriage.
Because of an accident, (Min Sun's) father
discovered that the inner layer of the clothes he was wearing was actually
filled with reeds.
His father was very angry. When Min Sun
returned home with his father that day, his father said to his stepmother
You are a wicked woman. You have mistreated
my eldest son. You even made him wear clothes that could not keep him warm.
I have decided to divorce you.
His stepmother heard these words and begged
his father not to do it, but his father stood by his decision.
At that time (Min Sun) said to his father.
I beg you not to divorce my stepmother.
My mother died when I was very young and I
understand how a child feels when he loses his mother. If you divorce your
stepmother, my two brothers will lose their mother, and my two brothers will
definitely feel the same sadness as I did when I was a child.
After my mother died, I always longed for a
mother to take care of me.
Although my stepmother is not good to me
now, I remember that she took good care of me when she first married you.
I am still very grateful for what she did
for me. If you divorce her, I will be very sad too.
Min Sun's father was silent for a long time
after hearing these words. Later, his father changed his mind and stopped
insisting on divorcing his stepmother.
After his stepmother experienced this
incident, she also thought hard about her wrong behaviour.
In the days that followed, his stepmother
took care of (Min Sun) as if they were her own two sons.

(閔損)是孔子最優秀的72位學生之一，歷史書上記載過一個關於他的故事。
他的母親在他年紀很小的時候就過世了。他的父親在他母親過世後幾年後又娶了一個新的妻子。
他的父親與他的繼母結婚之後，他的繼母與他的父親生了兩個兒子。
有一年的冬天，(閔損)的繼母做了三件新衣服給(閔損)與他的兩個弟弟。
他的繼母在其中兩件衣服的內層中，填入昂貴但保暖的棉花。
他的繼母將這兩件衣服給自已生的兩個小孩穿。
他的繼母在另一件衣服的內層中，填入不值錢而且不保暖的蘆葦。
他的繼母將這件衣服給(閔損)穿。
大約一個月後，有一天，(閔損)駕駛著馬車載他父親出門。
因為一場意外，所以閔損的父親發現穿著的衣服的內層竟然是填充蘆葦。
他的父親非常的生氣。所以當天閔損與他的父親回到家後，他的父親對他的繼母說。
妳是一個惡毒的女子，妳虐待我的長子，妳竟然讓他穿一件完全沒有辦法保暖的衣服。
我決定跟你離婚。
他的繼母聽到這些話後懇求他的父親不要這樣做但是他的父親仍然堅持他的決定。
這時候(閔損)對他的父親說。
我懇求你不要跟我的繼母離婚。
我的母親在我很小的時候就過世了，我很理解一個小孩失去了母親的心情。如果你跟繼母離婚，那麼我的兩個弟弟就從此失去了母親，我的兩個弟弟一定也會跟我小時候一樣感覺到無比的悲傷。
我的母親過世後，我就一直渴望有一個母親可以照顧我。
雖然我的繼母現在對我不好，但是我記得她剛跟你結婚時她很照顧我。
我還是很感謝她曾經對我的付出，如果你跟她離婚，我也會感到很悲傷。
閔損的父親聽到這些話後沉默了很久，他的父親後來改變心意不再堅持要與他的繼母離婚。
他的繼母經過這次的事件後，他的繼母也徹底的反省自己的的行為。
在往後的日子裡，他的繼母照顧(閔損)像是照顧自己親生的兩個兒子一樣。
