Once, the King of Qi ordered him to serve
as an ambassador to Chu. The purpose of this mission was to strengthen the
friendship between the two kingdoms.
The King of Qi prepared a very special gift
for the King of Chu. The gift was a very rare and beautiful swan.
A few days after he left Qi Kingdom with
the swan, he passed a river and opened the birdcage to let the swan drink
water.
After drinking the water, the swan suddenly
flew out of the cage and into the sky. A few minutes later, the swan
disappeared in the distance.
He looked at the empty birdcage, and after
thinking for about ten minutes, he took the empty birdcage and continued on his
way to the Kingdom of Chu.
A few days later, he arrived in the Kingdom
of Chu and met the King of Chu at the Palace of Chu.
The King of Chu was puzzled when he saw him
holding an empty birdcage and asked him.
Why do you come to me with an empty
birdcage?
he replied to the King of Chu.
The King of Qi has ordered me to bring you
the gift he wants to give you.
The gift was a very rare and beautiful
swan.
When I was halfway there, I saw that the
swan looked very thirsty. I felt sorry for it, so I opened the birdcage to give
it some water. Unexpectedly, the swan suddenly flew away.
After I saw the swan fly away, I wanted to
commit suicide to escape this reality that I didn't know how to deal with, but
I thought that if I committed suicide, people would blame the King of Qi for my
death, so I didn't commit suicide.
I also thought about finding another way to
buy another swan, and I would use that swan to pretend that it was the swan the
King of Qi wanted to give you. But I didn't do that later because I didn't want
to deceive you.
I also wanted to run away and hide in
another kingdom, but I thought that if I suddenly disappeared, I would cause
misunderstanding and mistrust between the Kingdom of Chu and the Kingdom of Qi.
Later, I decided to come to you with this
empty birdcage. I have decided to face my mistakes bravely, and I hope you can
forgive me.
After hearing his words, the King of Chu
said to him
You are a kind, brave, loyal and
responsible man. I admire your decision. Your actions make me believe that
maintaining friendship with the Qi Kingdom is definitely the right decision.

他帶著這隻天鵝離開齊王國的幾天後，他經過了一條河，他打開了鳥籠讓這隻天河喝水。
這隻天鵝喝了水之後突然衝出鳥籠然後飛上天空，幾分鐘後這隻天鵝消失在遠方。
他看著這個空鳥籠，他思考了大約十分鐘後，他拿著這個空鳥籠繼續前往楚王國。
過了幾天他到了楚王國並且在楚王國的皇宮中見到了楚王國的國王。
楚王國的國王看到他拿著一個空鳥籠就很疑惑就問他。
你為何帶著一個空鳥籠來見我呢?
他回答楚王國的國王。
齊王國的國王命令我帶著他要送給你的禮物來送給你。
這個禮物是一隻很稀有而且很漂亮的天鵝。
我走到半路的時候，我看到那隻天鵝看起來很渴，我起了憐憫的心，所以我就打開鳥籠讓天鵝喝水，結果沒想到天鵝突然飛走了。
我看到天鵝飛走後我想要自殺逃避這個令我不知道如何處理的現實，但是如果我自殺，我認為人們會因為我的死而責怪齊王國的國王，所以我沒有自殺。
我也曾想要另外想辦法買另外一隻天鵝，我用這隻我買到的天鵝假裝是齊王國的國王要送給你的那隻天鵝送給你。但我後來沒有這樣做，因為我不想欺騙你。
我也想要逃跑，跑到其他王國去躲起來，但是如果我突然消失不見，我認為我會引發楚王國與齊王國之間的的誤會與不信任。
我後來決定拿著這個空鳥籠來見你，我選擇勇敢面對我的錯誤，我希望你可以原諒我。
楚王國的國王聽完他的話後對他說。
你是一個又仁慈又勇敢又忠心又敢於負責任的人，我很欣賞你的決定，我因為你的行動讓我相信我跟齊王國保持友好絕對會是一個正確的決定。
