suffer a great flood.
Many people were frightened, and more and
more people left the capital to escape the disaster.
When the king saw this situation, he also
wanted to leave the capital and seek refuge.
All the ministers agreed with the king's
idea, but at that time a minister called (Wang Shang) objected.
(Wang Shang) said. If the king leaves the
capital at this time, it will cause more panic among the people.
Therefore, the best thing to do now is for
the king to announce that he will not leave the capital and to tell the people
this news.
Only in this way will the people feel at
ease, the capital will be stable, and there will be no unrest.
When the king heard what Wang Shang said,
he thought it was very just. He followed (Wang Shang's) suggestion.
The mood of the people in the capital also
changed from fear to calm.
The final results also showed that the
flooding was indeed just an unfounded rumour.
The king greatly appreciated (Wang Shang's)
courage and wisdom in not being influenced by the majority and boldly stating
his opinion.
