Han Fei (韓非)

Han Fei (韓非)

Han Fei (281 BC-233 BC)

His last name is (Han), his parents gave him the name (Fei), and he was born in Henan Province, China.

The original meaning is the fence surrounding the well, and it is also one of the Chinese surnames.

This word means no.

Han Fei is one of the most important thinkers in Chinese history.

In his book he uses many simple stories to illustrate some of his points.

One of the stories is as follows

During the Spring and Autumn Period in China, there was a great king in the Kingdom of Qi. His name was (Jiang Xiaobai).

Because he had a very broad mind, he attracted many talented people to work in the central government of the Qi Kingdom. He fully empowered these people and humbly accepted their suggestions.

One day, Jiang Xiaobai told all the ministers at a meeting.

Guan Zhong is a very talented man. I will appoint him Prime Minister and put him in charge of all the affairs of the Qi Kingdom, including making and enforcing laws.

Do you agree with my decision? If you agree with my decision, you will stand to my left. If you disagree with my decision, you will stand to my right.

After Jiang Xiaobai said this, some ministers went to the king's left and some went to the king's right.

There was one minister named (Dongguo Ya) who did not move his steps.

Jiang Xiaobai asked Dongguo Ya.

Why aren't you moving your feet? Why are you standing in front of me?

Dongguo Ya said.

I think Guan Zhong is a very wise man, he is also a very brave man, I think he can help our Qi Kingdom become very powerful.

I believe you share my opinion, so you want him to be the Prime Minister of Qi Kingdom, right?

Jiang Xiaobai replied.

Yes, I think so.

Dongguo Ya said to Jiang Xiaobai.

His talents surpass all of ours. I agree that you should make him prime minister, but I don't think you should give him all the power to make and enforce laws.

I think that will have serious consequences.

Because I take that into account, I stand in the middle.

After hearing these words, Jiang Xiaobai pondered for several minutes and then said to all the ministers.

I thank Dongguoya for reminding me, and I will reconsider this appointment.

Dear friends, what inspiration or ideas do you have after listening to this story?

If you were Jiang Xiaobai, would you accept your subordinates questioning your policies in public? Are you a person who is willing to humbly accept other people's opinions?

I hope this story can bring you some new insights.
