歷史書上記載過一個關於他的故事。

他把剪刀拿給他的媽媽後，他的媽媽就拿起剪刀把自己面前的織布機上的尚未完成的布剪斷。

 

他嚇了一大跳，他對他的媽媽說。

這塊布尚未完成，妳為何把它剪斷呢?

為了織這一塊布妳花了很多時間，你剪斷這塊布導致妳之前的努力全部白費了。

 

 

他的媽媽很嚴肅地對他說。

我是你的母親，我已經默默地觀察你好一陣子了。

你以前很認真學習，但是你最近在學習課業上愈來愈不用心。

我認為你現在的行動就好像我現在剪斷這塊我織到一半的布一樣。

 

我要織完一塊布要花很多心思，就好像你在學校學習要所進步也要花很多心思。

我在織布的時候要非常專心，就好像你在學校學習時也要非常專心。

 

我想藉用這個行動告訴你一件很簡單的真理，這個真理太簡單所以很多人忽略了。

 

我們要做好任何一件事情或是我們要得到好的成果都需要長期堅持，也都需要保持不懈的努力。

 

他聽完他的母親的話後很羞愧地對他的母親說。

我承認我最近的確沒有用心在學業上，我會改正我的讀書態度。
