There was a famous thinker during the Warring
States period in China, and his name was Xun Kuang.
He is a famous scholar who studies
Confucianism, and he has many views that are different from other Confucian
scholars.
He has many disciples.
After his death, his disciples actively
spread his philosophical ideas.
Later generations of scholars and
politicians were very fond of his unique insights.
His disciples compiled the highlights of
his thought into a book, including the following passage.
I once thought all day and wanted to make
myself smarter by thinking, but later I found that I was more inspired by
reading a book for 10 minutes.
I used to stand on tiptoe all day, hoping
to see further that way, but later I discovered that I didn't have to work so
hard. All I had to do was climb to a high platform and I could naturally see
very far.
I found that if I stood upwind and my
friend stood downwind and I shouted at a medium volume to my friend who was
hundreds of metres away from me, my friend could hear my voice clearly.
I have seen many people who were in poor
health and could not walk very far, but as long as they got on a carriage they
could easily reach very far places.
I saw many people who were afraid of water
and could not swim, but as long as these people got on a boat, they could
successfully cross a very wide river.
From these experiences I have gained a very
simple understanding.
This experience is that most of us have
similar intelligence and physical strength, and most of us have no special
talents.
The talents of the successful people around
us and those with noble moral character and cultivation are no better than
ours, but why are they more successful than us?
I think the main reason these people are
more successful than us is that they are very good at using the resources
around them to create conditions that are beneficial to themselves.
The literal translation of this idiom is 'I
climbed to a high place and looked into the distance'.
This idiom is used to describe a person who
has a high spiritual level and a far-sighted vision.

他是一個研究儒家思想的著名學者，他提出了很多與其他儒家學者不同的觀點。
他有很多的學生。
他死後他的學生們積極的傳播他的哲學思想。
後代有很多的學者與政治家們都很喜歡他獨特的見解。
他的學生們將他的思想重點集結成為一本書，這本書中有一段話如下。
我曾經思考一整天，我想藉著思考讓自己更加聰明，但我後來發現我看10分鐘的書所得到的啟發更多。
我曾經整天踮著腳，我想藉由這個方式讓自己看得更遠，但我後來發現我不用那麼辛苦，我只要爬到一個高台上，我自然就可以看到非常遠的地方。
我發現當我站在一個很高的地方向一個距離我大約好幾百公尺的朋友揮手時，我的人並沒有變得更高大，但是我的朋友卻能夠把我的動作看得非常清楚。
我發現當我站在一個上風處而我的朋友站在下風處時，我用中等音量向這個距離我好幾百公尺的朋友喊叫，我的朋友就能夠把我的聲音聽得很清楚。
我看到很多人身體很不好所以無法走太多路，但是這些人只要坐上一輛馬車，這些人就可以順利地到達很遠的地方。
我看到很多人對水有恐懼症而且不會游泳，但是這些人只要搭上一條船，這些人就可以順利地渡過一條很廣闊的大河。
從這些經驗中，我領悟到一個很樸素的體會。
這個體會就是我們大部分人的智力與體力都差不多，我們大部分人都沒有特別的天賦。
我們周圍那些成功的人與那些具有高尚的品德與修養的人之的天賦並沒有比我們更好但為何他們比我們有成就呢?
我認為這些人之所以比我們成功的最主要的原因就是因為這些人很擅長利用身邊的資源創造出對自己有利的條件。
