He will distribute the rewards on the same
day(賞不踰日)
In the Western Jin Dynasty of China, there
was a famous general named Zu Ti. His story is recorded in history books.
After a Pre-Han kingdom founded by nomadic
people in northern China captured the capital of the Western Jin Dynasty, the
king of the Western Jin Dynasty was killed and the Western Jin Dynasty fell.
Many lands in northern China were occupied by the Pre-Han Kingdom.
After the fall of the Western Jin Dynasty,
a member of the royal family of the Western Jin Dynasty established the Eastern
Jin Dynasty in southern China.
A year after the establishment of the
Eastern Jin Dynasty, Zu Ti led an army he had formed by boat across the Yangtze
River to northern China.
He vowed to reclaim the lands that once
belonged to the Western Jin Dynasty and save the people of the Western Jin
Dynasty.
Zu Ti used his wisdom to win several
battles. He also contacted and organised some of the warlords from the original
Western Jin Dynasty who were still in northern China. Under his leadership, he
reclaimed many of the occupied lands in northern China.
Zu Ti was a commander who loved his
subordinates very much. He treated soldiers who were inferior to him with
humility and kindness.
He is very good at encouraging soldiers in
the army. He will take the initiative to praise these soldiers when they have
made small contributions to the army. He will also distribute rewards to these
meritorious soldiers on the same day.
Zu Ti was a very frugal person in life. He
did not accumulate much wealth for himself. He was very generous to others and
very willing to give.
After reclaiming much of the occupied land
in northern China, he sent soldiers to help people repair their war-damaged
homes and encouraged people to resume farming.
He sent soldiers to collect the dry bones
of those who had died in the war. He held solemn funerals for the dead whose
names were no longer known, and buried the bones with great care.
Everyone was moved and respected by Zu Ti's
behaviour. Many old people among the people shed tears.
These people said
We did not expect that we could still be alive
and return to our original peaceful and happy life. We were so moved. When we
saw Zuti, we were happy like a child seeing its parents. We wanted to sing and
dance with joy.
The direct translation of this idiom is
that he will distribute the reward on the same day.
This idiom is used to describe the delivery
of rewards very quickly and immediately.

(He will distribute the rewards on the
same day)
