There is no talent that is overlooked and unappreciated in the private sector(野無遺賢)

In China's Tang Dynasty, there was a famous minister. His name was Li Linfu. There is a story about him recorded in history books.

He entered the central government system of the Tang Dynasty by currying favour with some powerful ministers. With his flexible mind and cunning character, he was promoted and later became the Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty.

He had read very little, so he hated people who were very knowledgeable. He worried every day about losing his position as prime minister. He did everything he could to prevent other ministers from gaining the king's trust. He used various means to prevent the king from hearing the voices of ordinary people in the Tang dynasty.

One day the king said to him

We now have a special national examination through which we have selected many outstanding talents to serve as officials in the central government.

However, in order to prevent talents from being overlooked and unappreciated in the private sector, we should hold another special recruitment event in addition to the regular national examinations.

If people have special expertise, they can take part in this selection.

I would like to take part in this recruitment drive myself.

When Li Linfu heard the king's words, he immediately became alert.

He said to himself.

The king's decision will give him an opportunity to meet directly with the people at the bottom of society. The king will hear the voices of the people at the bottom of society directly.

I should find a way to prevent these people from seeing the king directly.

Li Linfu said to the king.

I think your idea is really good.

I think we can follow the current national examination method and let the local governments hold the first round of selection first, and then let those who pass the first round go to the capital to participate in the second round of selection.

Finally, those who pass the second round will go to the palace to take part in the final election, which you will preside over.

After listening to him, the king put him in charge of implementing the plan.

During the implementation of this project, Li Linfu used some unfair means to influence the selection process. Because of his actions, no one passed the second round of selection.

Li Linfu told the king.

No one made it to the second round of our recruitment campaign.

I think this is a good sign. It means that the national examination in our country is very successful. All the talented people in our country have been discovered and have joined the central government. Our country has a wise king like you. Under your leadership, our national strength will surely grow stronger and stronger.

The king smiled happily after hearing his words.

The literal translation of this idiom is that there are no talents among the people that are overlooked and unappreciated.

This idiom is used to describe a country's leaders who value talent and take proactive measures to ensure that talented people have the opportunity to serve the country.

Dear friends, what are your feelings or thoughts after listening to this story?

Have you participated in these recruitment activities? Do you think that the leaders of your country attach importance to discovering and cultivating talent?

I hope this story can give you some new insights.

(There is no talent that is overlooked and unappreciated in the private sector)
