A set of strategies to protect yourself
from harm(自全之計)
Su
Shi was a famous politician and gourmet in China's Song Dynasty. He was also an
excellent writer and calligrapher. He is also one of the most popular poets in
Chinese history.
During the Han Dynasty of China, there was
a famous and loyal minister called Chao Cuo. He argued that the power of many
princes in the Han Dynasty needed to be reduced. His actions aroused the anger
of these princes, who later rebelled. Chao Cuo was eventually sentenced to
death for causing the unrest.
After Su Shi read the biography of (Chao
cuo), he wrote an article.
Su Shi expressed his views on this
historical event.
When (Chao cuo) heard that these princes
had formed an army and were marching towards the capital, he should have spoken
to the king.
I had expected this situation.
I am ready to lead the army to fight
against the coalition forces of these princes.
I believe we will win, and we can definitely
defeat the armies of these princes.
But (Chao cuo) did not. Faced with such
tremendous pressure, he made an extremely wrong decision. He actually said to
the king
These princes are all your brothers. I
think you should be the commander-in-chief and lead the army to fight against
the coalition formed by these princes.
When the soldiers of our army see you
personally leading the army on the battlefield, I believe our soldiers will be
full of fighting spirit.
When the soldiers of the enemy army see you
personally leading them on the battlefield, they will feel a lot of
psychological pressure.
The battlefield is an extremely dangerous
place, and (Chao cuo) actually suggested that the king personally serve as a
general and lead the army to the front to fight. His suggestion made the king
lose confidence in him.
I think (Chao cuo)'s foolish action was the
main reason why he was finally sentenced to death.
He is a very intelligent man with great
talent and a clear view of the world.
He made a good suggestion, but did not
consider the serious consequences of implementing it.
When faced with a crisis, he devised a
strategy to protect himself from harm.
He chose to hide in the capital and
suggested that the king go to the battlefield himself.
I think this is the main reason why he was
condemned to death.
If he had made a different choice, if he
had told the king that he was willing to lead the army himself to fight against
the coalition of princes, then I think the king would not have sentenced him to
death, and the outcome of the story would not have been the same as it is now.
After reading this story, I had a deep
understanding. I think many people around us are like (Chao cuo). Many of us
have done many things to save our lives, but these people often have the
opposite effect, and what they do hastens their own death.
This idiom means a set of strategies to
protect yourself from harm.
Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts
do you have after listening to this story?
Have you ever made a wrong decision and
regretted it? Have you ever lost trust in your friends because of something?
I hope this story can give you some new
insights.
(A set of strategies to protect
yourself from harm)
