A talent that surpasses all the rest of the
Firm, resilient and unflappable.(堅忍不拔)
Su Shi was a famous politician and gourmet
in China's Song Dynasty. He was also an outstanding writer and calligrapher. He
is also one of the most popular poets in Chinese history.
During the Han Dynasty of China, there was
a famous and loyal minister called Chao Cuo. He argued that the power of many
princes in the Han Dynasty needed to be reduced. His actions aroused the anger
of these princes, who later rebelled. Chao Cuo was eventually sentenced to
death for causing the unrest.
After Su Shi read (Chao cuo's) biography,
he wrote an article.
The general meaning of the second paragraph
of this article is as follows.
(Chao Cuo) was a very loyal person. He
found that the power of the princes in various parts of China was too great. He
knew that if this situation continued, it would have a very bad effect on the
Han Dynasty, so he suggested that the king should reduce the power of these
princes.
This proposal of (Chao Cuo) aroused the
dissatisfaction of the princes all over China, so these princes started a
rebellion, and finally (Chao Cuo) was sentenced to death for causing this
turmoil.
I would like to give some of my views on
this historical event.
I have read many history books, and after
reading many stories of people who have achieved great things in history, I
have come to a conclusion.
The conclusion is that these people who can
achieve great things, in addition to having talents that surpass anyone else in
the world, must also have a firm, resilient and unshakable will.
Let me give you an example to prove my
point. In ancient China there was a great leader called Yu. When he led his
people to control floods, he faced great difficulties and opposition, but he did
not give up, and he succeeded in the end.
Why (Chao cuo) was finally sentenced to
death, I think the most important reason is that although he has talents that
surpass anyone in the world, he lacks a firm, resilient and unwavering will.
I think when he heard that those princes
had formed an army and were marching towards the capital, he should have told
the king.
The power of these princes is extremely
great. If we try to reduce their power, they will naturally rise up in
resistance.
This is the situation I expected.
I am willing to give my life for this
proposal, and I am willing to lead the army to fight against the coalition of
these princes.
I believe we will win, and we can
definitely defeat the armies of these princes.
But (Chao cuo) did not do this. Faced with
such tremendous pressure, he made an extremely wrong decision.
The first idiom means to describe a person
who has talents that surpass everyone else in the world.
The first idiom means to describe a person
with a firm, resilient and unshakable will.
Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts
do you have after listening to this story?
When you are faced with great pressure,
will you choose to escape or to face it? What do you think is more important,
intelligence or strong willpower?
I hope this story can give you some new
insights.
(A talent that surpasses all the rest
of the world.)
(Firm, resilient and unflappable.)
