Wang Xianzhi (王獻之/子敬)

Wang Xianzhi (王獻之)(344-386 AD)

His surname was Wang, his parents called him Xianzhi, his friends called him Zijing as he grew up, and he was born in Shandong Province, China.

It means what the king means. It is also one of the Chinese surnames.

It means dedication. It is also one of the Chinese surnames.

It means growth. This word has many meanings, and I will only give one of them here. It is also one of the Chinese surnames.

It means little children. It is also one of the Chinese surnames.

It means respect. It is also one of the Chinese surnames.

He was a famous official in the Jin Dynasty of China. His family was the most powerful family in the Jin Dynasty and many of his family members served as ministers in the central government. He is one of the most outstanding calligraphers in Chinese history.

There is a story about him recorded in history books.

His wife's name is (Xi Daomao). He and his wife grew up together and they have a very good relationship.

He was very handsome and talented, and the princess of the Jin Dynasty was in love with him. She told the king.

I love Wang Xianzhi and I want to marry him.

The King of Jin Dynasty replied.

He is already married and cannot marry you.

The Jin Dynasty princess said.

I must marry him. I am your most beloved daughter and you must help me to fulfil my wish.

The King of the Jin Dynasty forced (Wang Xianzhi) and (Xi Daomao) to divorce and asked (Wang Xianzhi) to marry the princess.

Wang Xianzhi initially refused, but if he did not comply with the king's request, his entire family could be implicated. He was under great pressure and eventually compromised.

He once wrote a letter to (Xi Daomao) after his divorce from (Xi Daomao).

These words were written in the letter.

We have grown up together since childhood, and every day after we got married is very happy. I like being with you every day. We once agreed to experience all the beautiful things in this world together. I feel very happy every moment I am with you every day.

I thought I could be with you until we both grew old, and I never imagined that we would suddenly be forced to part. It never occurred to me that we wouldn't be together anymore.

After leaving you, my heart feels as if it's being pressed down by a huge rock and I can't breathe.

Will I have a chance to see you again? Will we have the chance to be together again?

The thought that we can't be together again makes me feel very sad inside and I can't stop myself from crying.

I'm so heartbroken, I don't think I'll ever be happy again in my life, I think only when I stop breathing will I stop feeling sad about our separation.

In 386 AD, Wang Xianzhi fell seriously ill and his family held a Taoist prayer ceremony for him.

His family asked him during the ceremony.

What mistakes have you made in your life? Do you think you have ever let anyone down? Whose forgiveness would you most like to ask?

He thought for a few minutes and then spoke quietly to his family.

There is only one thing I can think of that makes me feel the need to repent, and that is that when I was young, I did not resist the pressure from my family and the royal family, and I chose to divorce (Xi Daomao) at that time.

I would like to tell (Xi Daomao) that I am very sorry that I did not persist in defending our love.

Dear friends, what are your feelings or thoughts after listening to this story?

If you were to die today, who would you want to confess to? What is the thing you regret the most?

I hope this story can bring you some new insights.
