Royal Frog or Folk Frog(官蛙民蛙)
The second king of China's Western Jin
Dynasty was named Sima Zhong, and his story is recorded in history books.
He was made crown prince at the age of 8
and married at the age of 13. His wife's name was (Jia Nanfeng). His
father-in-law was a very important minister in the Western Jin Dynasty.
He was a poor student and his father was
worried about his low intelligence. In order to test his judgement and ability
to think, his father made up some special test questions to test him.
When he saw the test paper his father gave
him, he couldn't understand the meaning of it at all, but he didn't care and he
still lived very happily.
When his wife saw the test questions his
father gave him, she was very sure that he didn't know how to answer them. She
knew that if he couldn't answer them, he would most likely be disinherited. His
wife was an ambitious person, and she took the initiative to help him cheat,
and he passed the test easily.
In 290 AD, after his father died, he
succeeded to the throne, but because he was so stupid, control of the central
government of the Western Jin Dynasty fell into the hands of his wife, and he
became a puppet king.
How stupid was he? When he was still a
prince, he went for a walk outside the palace one summer evening with several
officials who served him. As he left the palace, he suddenly heard the croaking
of many frogs.
After stopping to listen for a few minutes,
he asked the officials who were serving him.
There are so many frogs here. Among these
frogs, which are our royal frogs and which are common frogs?
The officials didn't know how to answer his
question.
After a few minutes of silence, one of the
officials suddenly answered.
The question is very simple. The frogs that
live in the palace are royal frogs. Those that do not live in the palace are
ordinary frogs.
He said to the minister with a happy smile.
I give you an order. You must take good care
of these royal frogs. It is your responsibility to see that they are fed well
every day. Don't let our royal frogs go hungry.

他笑得很開心的跟這個大臣說。
我給你一個命令，你要好好照顧那些皇家的青蛙，你要每天負責讓這些青蛙吃飽，不要讓我們皇家的青蛙餓肚子。
