When will you die?(時日曷喪)
The last king of the Xia dynasty in China
was named Si Jie, also known as Xia Jie.
He collected a lot of taxes and used them
to build a luxurious and beautiful palace and a huge platform. He also had a
huge pool dug in which to row a boat and filled it with Chinese rice wine.
He held an event where he invited 3,000
people to drink around the pool at the same time. After seeing that everyone
was drunk, he laughed happily.
He drank and had fun every day and didn't
care about the lives of the people at all. Under his rule, everyone was very
miserable.
He once said arrogantly to everyone:
'I am your sun. You must rely on me to
live. If I die, you will never feel the warmth of the sun again and you will
all die.'
The people were very dissatisfied with his
behaviour and said:
'You don't care whether we can eat enough;
you force us to fight other tribes.
You have spent a lot of money to satisfy
your desires and you have treated us very harshly.
We are very dissatisfied with your
behaviour and don't want to follow your leadership anymore.
If you really are the sun, we want to know
when you will be extinguished. When will you die? Even if we die after you, we
don't care; we would rather die with you.
We are very unhappy now; we think life is
meaningless and would rather die.
This idiom literally means 'when will you
die', or 'when will you, the sun, perish'.
It is used to describe someone who hates
another person extremely.

中國的夏王朝的最後一任國王的名字叫做(姒桀)，他也被稱為(夏桀)。
他收很多稅，他拿這些稅金為自己蓋了一間非常豪華又漂亮的宮殿與一座非常巨大的高台，他還鑿了一個非常巨大的可以在池中划船的大水池，他在這個池子中裝滿了中國米酒。
他舉辦過一個活動，他找了3000個人同時圍繞在這個巨大的池塘旁喝酒，看到所有的人都喝醉了之後，他開心地大笑。
他每天喝酒玩樂，他完全不關心百姓的生活，在他的統治下所有百姓都感到非常的痛苦。
他曾經很狂妄地對所有百姓說。
我就是你們的太陽，你們都必須要倚靠我才可以活著，如果我死了，你們就再也無法感受到太陽的溫暖，到時候你們也都會死去。
百姓們對於他的行為感到非常的不滿，百姓們說。
你不體恤我們的生活，你不關心我們有沒有辦法吃飽，你強迫我們去跟其他的部落打仗。
你為了滿足自己的慾望花費了大量的金錢，你對用非常嚴苛來管理我們。
我們對於你的行為感到非常的不滿，我們不想再追隨你的領導。
如果你真的是太陽，那麼我們要告訴你，你這顆太陽到底什麼時候才會消滅呢?你到底甚麼時候才會死亡啊?就算是你死了之後我們也會死亡，我們也不在乎，我們寧願跟你一起死亡。
我們現在活得非常不快樂，我們覺得活著沒有意思，我們寧願去死。
