During the Jin dynasty in China, there was
a famous minister named Yin Zhongkan. His story is recorded in history books.
Yin Zhongkan was deeply fond of the ideas
of Laozi and Zhuangzi. He enjoyed discussing metaphysical knowledge and was an
excellent writer.
He once told his friends, 'I read a little
bit of the Tao Te Ching almost every day. No matter how busy I was, I would
always take a moment to read it.' There were times when I was so busy that I
wouldn't read Laozi's book for more than three days in a row. I would feel my
tongue stiffen when speaking to others, and my words would seem to lack
substance and depth.
He was a very filial man. After his father
fell ill, he personally cared for him. He studied numerous classic Chinese
medicine texts, prescribed treatments tailored to his father's condition and
personally prepared the herbs.
While preparing the herbs, he accidentally
injured his eye, leaving him partially blind. However, he did not blame his
father and continued to care for him attentively.
He had a good friend who was a renowned
painter at the time. His name was Gu Kaizhi.
One day, Gu Kaizhi said to him, 'I'm famous
for my portraits, and we're good friends, but I've never painted your portrait.
Could you please let me paint you one?"
He replied, "I don't want a portrait.
One of my eyes is blind and I think I look ugly."
After pondering this for a few minutes, Gu
Kaizhi smiled and said, "Trust me, I can paint you a portrait that you'll
surely be satisfied with."
He half-heartedly agreed.
After Gu Kaizhi had finished the painting,
he showed it to him.
He could see that his facial features had
been depicted clearly and accurately on the paper, but the way his blind eye
had been painted was unique. He didn't look like someone who was blind; rather,
he looked like a normal person with sparkling eyes.
Seeing his surprised expression, Gu Kaizhi
said proudly to him: 'I used a unique Chinese calligraphy technique to depict
your eyes, creating an effect that resembles the sun obscured by clouds.'
This idiom literally means that a person's
tongue becomes stiff.
It is also used to describe someone who is
not good at speaking.

殷仲堪很喜歡老子與莊子的思想，他很熱衷談論一些形而上的知識，他的文筆很好。
他曾對他的朋友們說我幾乎每天都要讀一點道德經，不管再忙，我都會花一點時間看一下道德經。有幾次，我真的太忙了，我連續超過三天沒有看老子寫的道德經，我就會覺得我跟別人說話的時候會舌頭變得僵硬，我會覺得我說話都缺乏內容與深度。
他是一個很孝順的人，他的父親生病後，他就親自照顧他的父親，他為了他的父親的病去研究很多中醫的經典書籍，他針對他的父親的病開處方，他親自為他的父親煎煮中藥，
他對他的父親準備中藥的過程中，他不小心弄傷了自己的眼睛，他的一隻眼睛因此瞎了，但他沒有埋怨他的父親，他依舊很用心地照顧他的父親。
他有一個好朋友，這個好朋友是當時一個著名的畫家，這個好朋友的名字叫做顧愷之。
有一天，顧愷之對他說。
我因為很擅長畫人物而聞名，我們兩個是好朋友，但我竟然都沒有為你畫過肖像。請讓我為你畫一副畫好嗎?
他回答。
我不想要畫肖像畫，我的眼睛有一隻瞎了，我覺得我眼睛瞎掉的樣子很醜。
顧愷之聽到他的回答後沉默地思考了幾分鐘後微笑地對他說。
你相信我，我可以幫你畫出一副你一定會覺得滿意的肖像畫。
他半信半疑地答應了顧愷之。
顧愷之畫完話之後就拿給他看。
他看到自己的臉部五官被清晰且準確的畫在紙上，但是他的那隻瞎掉的眼睛的畫法很特別，這副畫中的他看起來不像是一個一經瞎掉的人，看起來就像是一個兩眼都閃閃發光的正常人。
顧愷之看到他驚訝的表情後得意地對他說。
我用一種中國書法特有的技巧去畫你的眼睛，所以畫中的你的眼睛產生了這種像是太陽被一些雲遮住一樣的特別效果。
