During China's Jin dynasty, there was a
famous minister. His family was one of the most powerful in the country, with
many of its members serving in the central government. His name was Wang
Tanzhi.
History records a story about him.
He had a good friend, a monk named Zhu.
They were both deeply knowledgeable about
Buddhism and often discussed the Buddhist worldview and outlook on life. They
often debated whether there was real retribution after death and whether
everything we did was causally related.
They each offered their own opinions on
this question, but neither could provide evidence of cause and effect.
They made a pact that if one of them died
first, the soul of the deceased would return from the underworld and reveal the
truth about the afterlife to the other.
One day, while Wang Tanzhi was reading in
his study, Zhu suddenly appeared before him. Startled, he looked at him in
horror.
Zhu looked at him and smiled, saying, 'I
died a few hours ago. What you see now is my ghost. I have arrived in the
underworld. I can now prove that all good and bad deeds in life will receive
their due retribution after death. I have confirmed this to be true.
You are not dead yet, my good friend. You
still have the opportunity to make the most of life and improve your moral
character. You still have time to make your character purer and more beautiful.
After saying these words, Zhu's ghost
suddenly disappeared.
He hurried to the temple where Zhu had been
staying. When he arrived, the monk who lived and practised there with Zhu told
him sadly, 'Zhu died a few hours ago. He died peacefully.'
A few years after this incident, he fell
seriously ill. Anticipating the end of his life, he wrote a letter to two close
friends who held important positions in the central government of the Jin
Dynasty, in which he expressed his final thoughts.
In it, he shared his thoughts on the state
of the country and its future development. He did not mention any personal
matters.
Following his death, his friends mourned
him greatly and the king and his colleagues praised him as a wise and
intelligent minister who had made significant contributions to the country.
This idiom, when literally translated,
means 'he did not mention any personal matters'.
It is used to describe someone who is
deeply loyal to their country and places its interests above their own.

你還沒有死，我的好朋友，你還有機會可以把握活著的時刻去提升自己的道德水平，你還有時間去讓自已的品性變得更乾淨與更美好。
說完這些話後(竺)的鬼魂就突然消失。
他連忙跑去(竺)所待的寺院看看，當他到了(竺)所住的寺廟時，跟(竺)一起住在寺廟中修行的和尚很悲傷地對他說。
(竺)在幾個小時前死了，他死得很安詳。
這件事情發生幾年之後，他生了一場重病，他自己與預感自己的生命已經要走到盡頭了，他寫了一封信給他的兩個好朋友交代他的遺言，這兩個好朋友在晉王朝的中央政府擔任非常重要的職位。
他在這封信中寫下他對於整個國家的現況與未來發展的憂慮與建議，他在這封信中完全沒有提起一些涉及他個人的私事。
他死後，他的朋友們都很懷念他，當時國王與他的朋友讚美他是一個聰明睿智而且對於這個國家有巨大的功勞的大臣。
