Li Baojia was a social observer who was

people. He wrote a novel depicting his era, featuring many characters but no
single protagonist.
Initially serialized in newspapers, this
novel had a significant impact on society at the time.
One of the characters mentioned in the book
is Hua Dehuai, who was born in a poor rural village in Zhejiang Province,
China.
One day, several close friends invited him
to accompany them on their journey to Shanghai, which was then China's most
bustling city. After careful consideration, he made a crucial decision.
He sold his ox, which he had used for
plowing the land, and used the money to follow his friends to Shanghai.
Shanghai was the most bustling and
commercially developed city in China at the time. A few days after arriving, he
started selling unique imported goods. He had a keen business acumen, and his
business improved day by day, allowing him to save some money.
Until one day when something changed his
fate.
As usual, he was going to the port to buy
goods wholesale to resell. As he had left late, it was dark by the time he
reached the port. While walking, he suddenly kicked something soft and almost
tripped up.
Carefully examining what he had kicked, he
found it was a high-quality, heavy handbag.
Although Li Huaide wasn't highly educated,
he had a strong moral character.
He told himself... 'This handbag is very
good quality with a great design. I believe the owner must be feeling extremely
anxious right now. What's the best way to handle this handbag in this
situation?
If it were mine, I would retrace my steps
to find it.
He finally decided to sit by the roadside
with the handbag and wait.
Several tens of minutes later, he saw a man
approaching him anxiously from a distance. After speaking with him, he
confirmed that the man was the owner of the handbag he had found and returned
it to him.
The man, who had been sweating profusely
with anxiety, immediately changed his expression when he received his own
handbag. His eyebrows relaxed, and his eyes filled with a smile.
The man thanked (Hua Huaide) repeatedly.
This man was a very successful businessman
who later hired Hua Huaide to work for him. Through this businessman, Hua
Huaide expanded his network of connections. About ten years later, after
retiring, the businessman bequeathed his company to Hua Huaide.
This idiom means 'eyebrows relaxed, eyes
filled with a smile'.
It
