was too ashamed to face his family and neighbours.
He was deeply depressed and his melancholy

One day, he told himself,
'I shouldn't be so despondent. This time it
was just bad luck. I believe I can pass the next exam in four years. I need to
pull myself together.'
After thinking about it for a long time, he
decided that he should find a job in the capital. He could earn money during
the day and study at night.
He had no special skills — all he knew how
to do was study, because the general level of education was low at the time. So
he rented a small classroom and opened a private school.
He slowly enrolled students, one by one.
Time passed quickly and almost a year had passed since he arrived in the
capital.
One day, an old woman arrived at Wu Hong's school. She was his former neighbour and they hadn't seen each other
for a long time as she had moved to the other side of the city. She was a
matchmaker. When Shen Wenshu saw her, he felt slightly puzzled.
