During the Song dynasty in China, there was a renowned minister named Zhu Guangting whose tales have been recorded in history books.

He was an extremely intelligent and honourable man. Even after entering the central government, he did not change his principles because of his position. He was extremely loyal to his superiors and deeply cared for his subordinates.

Throughout his life, he was transferred to several different cities, where he was greatly respected and loved by the people.

In his fifties, he was transferred to a city in Shanxi Province to serve as its leader. Due to a severe drought in neighbouring cities, famine had struck and many refugees had fled to the city under his governance.

Rather than refusing them, he accepted the refugees. To ensure they had enough food, he worked late into the night every day and joined the front lines to help them.

Due to the large number of refugees, he was often so busy that he didn't eat all day. Due to the prolonged drought, he held a public prayer ceremony for rain, showing great reverence.

After several months of this hectic lifestyle, his health deteriorated.

He suddenly fell ill and died two days later. His death caused great sorrow among the people.

In his youth, he had studied Confucianism under several renowned scholars, including the prominent brothers Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi.

He once told his friends:

'When I was young, I studied at the school founded by Cheng Hao for a month. That month was wonderful. I could see the warmth emanating from Cheng Hao's heart in his words and actions.

It was a very beautiful time. If I had to describe the feeling, I would say it was like sitting and feeling the gentle spring breeze on my skin.'

This idiom translates directly as 'A person sits and feels the gentle spring breeze on their skin'.

(A person sits and feels the gentle spring breeze on their skin.)
