During the Song dynasty in China, there
were two famous brothers: Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi. They were renowned thinkers
and Confucian scholars, and had many students.
The brothers had distinctly different
personalities and teaching styles: Cheng Hao was gentle and kind, while Cheng
Yi was strict and authoritative.
In their youth, they studied at a school
founded by the renowned Song dynasty scholar Zhou Dunyi.
According to Cheng Hao's recollection, Zhou
Dunyi once said something to the two brothers.
Every Confucian scholar strives to be a
role model in terms of their character, conduct and knowledge, and I am no
exception. However, I have found that everyone harbours some negative thoughts
and has some bad habits. Sometimes we feel we have completely overcome these
negative thoughts and ideas, but we must be cautious because they may simply be
lurking within us. Under certain circumstances, they may be triggered again and
overcome our reason once more.
After saying this, Zhou Dunyi looked kindly
at his students.
He said,
'I will use my own experience as an
example.
Some of you are 16, some 17. I remember
when I was your age, I loved hunting. I was very enthusiastic about it for a
while and went hunting almost every day.
Later, however, I felt that I should have a
grander goal in life. Like you, I wanted to become someone who could use their
influence to make the world a better place. I left my hometown and studied
Confucianism diligently with my teacher. From that time on, I gave up hunting.
About twelve years later, when I was around
30 years old, I returned to my hometown. On the third day after my return, at
noon, I saw a group of young men riding past me at high speed, dressed in
hunting clothes and carrying hunting gear.
I couldn't help watching their departing
figures, a surge of excitement filling me.
In that instant, I felt as though I were
back in my youth. The desire to hunt resurfaced suddenly within me, affecting
my emotions. My mood remained unsettled throughout the day.
This idiom means that "I get excited
when I see people hunting.".
It is also used to describe someone who
finds it difficult to give up a hobby or habit.

someone feels when they see others enjoying themselves.

中國的宋王朝，有一對著名的兄弟，哥哥的名字是(程顥)、弟弟的名字是(程頤)。他們兩個人是當時最著名的思想家與儒家的學者，他們有很多學生。
程顥與程頤的性格與教學風格有很明顯的差異，程顥的性格很溫和，讓人感覺非常的和善，程頤的個性很嚴謹，讓人感覺非常的威嚴。
他們兩個人在青少年的時候曾經到一個宋王朝著名的學者所創立的學堂中學習，這個學者的名字叫做周敦頤。
根據程顥的回憶，周敦頤曾經對他們兩個兄弟說過一段話。
每個儒家學者都在追求成為一個品德與行為和知識上、都成為別人的典範的人，我也不例外，但是我發現我們每個人內心都會有一些不好的念頭，我們生活中都會有一些不好的習慣，我們有時候會覺得我們已經把我們徹底地改正了這些不好的念頭與想法，但是我們必須要謹慎，因為這些不好的念頭與想法可能只是潛伏在我們的內心之中，在一些特定的情境之下，這些不好的念頭與想法可能又會再度被誘發並且再次戰勝我們的理性。
周敦頤說完這段話後慈祥地看著他的學生們。
他說。
我以我自己本身的經驗為例子來說明。
你們現在的年紀有些是16歲有些是17歲，我還記得我在你們這個年紀的時候我非常的喜歡去打獵，我那時候有一陣子非常的熱衷，那個時候我幾乎每天都去打獵。
我後來覺得我的人生應該有更宏大的目標，我跟你們一樣，我希望自己成為一個可以發揮自己的影響力讓這個世界變得更好的人，我離開我的家鄉，我非常認真地跟我的老師學習儒家的知識，從那個時候之後，我就戒除掉打獵的這個嗜好。
我戒除打獵的這個嗜好的大概12年後，我那年大概30歲了，我再次回到我的家鄉，當我回到我的家鄉的第三天的中午，我在路上散步的時候，我突然看到一群年輕人帶著打獵的器具與穿著打獵的衣服，他們騎著馬從我的眼前快速的經過。
我不由自主地看著那群年輕人遠去的背影，我的內心感到非常興奮。
那一瞬間，我彷彿回到我年輕的時候，我內心中那種想要打獵的慾望突然出現，我的情緒被這件事情影響，我既的我那一天的心情都非常的不平靜
