bamboo that produces a serene and elegant sound.
Through his cultivation, he became an
immortal. No one knew his true age, but he looked like a young man in his
twenties.
Whenever he played, many people would
gather at his home to listen. As well as these people, peacocks from the forest
and white cranes from the sky would fly to his courtyard to listen to his
music. Due to his exceptional ability to play the xiao, a vertical bamboo flute,
he became a celebrity in the Qin Kingdom.
At that time, the princess of Qin was named
Nongyu. She loved music and, after hearing about Xiao Shi, was filled with
curiosity. She secretly left the palace and mingled with ordinary people,
eventually going to Xiao Shi's home to hear him play.
Xiao Shi and Nongyu later fell in love, and
their union was blessed by the King of Qin. They eventually married.
After their wedding, Xiao Shi taught Nongyu
to play the xiao. Nongyu was very musically talented and practised diligently
every day. After several years, her skill had almost reached Xiao Shi's level.
The sound of her xiao attracted a phoenix. This very rare and precious bird
flew to Xiao Shi and Nongyu's home and stayed on their roof for a long time.
This idiom translates literally as 'her
xiao music attracted a phoenix'.
It is used to describe a very happy
marriage.

中國春秋時代，有一個名字叫做蕭史的男子，他非常的擅長吹簫，簫是一種歷史非常悠久的中國的傳統管樂器，這種樂器的材質大部分是用竹子做成，演奏時所發出的聲音讓人感覺到幽静與典雅。
他透過自己的修練成為一個神仙，沒有人知道他確實的年紀，他的外表看起來像是一個20幾歲的年輕人。
每次當蕭史吹奏簫的時候，就有很多百姓都聚集在他的家中聆聽他的演奏，除了這些百姓之外，森林中的許多孔雀與天上的很多白鶴也會飛到他家中的庭院中，這些孔雀與白鶴會安靜地傾聽他的演奏。
因為他演奏簫的技巧太高明了，他成為一個秦王國的名人。
當時的秦王國的公主的名字叫做(弄玉)，(弄玉)非常喜歡音樂，當她聽聞蕭史的事蹟之後，她的心中充滿了好奇心，她偷偷地離開皇宮並混入百姓之中，她也到了蕭史的家中去聽蕭史吹簫。
弄玉後來與蕭史相愛，他們兩個人的愛情得到了秦王國的國王的祝福，他們兩個人後來結了婚。
蕭史與弄玉結婚之後就教導弄玉吹簫，弄玉非常有音樂天分而且每天勤奮地練習，過了幾年之後，弄玉吹簫的技巧已經跟蕭史差不多，弄玉吹的簫聲吸引鳳凰前來，有一隻非常稀少且珍貴的鳳凰飛到了蕭史與弄玉的家中並且長時間地停留在他家的屋頂上。
