(Aiding each other and then committing
evil deeds together.)

Aiding each other and then committing evil
deeds together.(同惡共濟)
A famous minister from the Jin dynasty in
China named Wen Qiao is recorded in history books alongside a story about him.
In 316 AD, the Former Han Kingdom, which
was established by nomadic people in northern China, captured the capital of
the Western Jin Dynasty. The Western Jin king was killed and the dynasty
collapsed, with much of northern China being occupied by the Former Han
Kingdom. Many of the Western Jin Dynasty's ministers and officials fled south
of the Yangtze River.
In 317 AD, a member of the Western Jin
royal family, with the help of several important ministers, declared himself
king and founded the Eastern Jin dynasty. He then made Jiankang, located in
present-day Jiangsu Province, China, the capital.
The second king of the Eastern Jin dynasty
was Sima Shao. Sima Shao was a good king who was willing to accept good advice.
Unfortunately, he died after only two years on the throne. He died in 325 AD at
the young age of 26.
Following his death, his five-year-old son
Sima Yan ascended the throne. As he was so young, he was completely incapable
of managing the vast dynasty, which led to severe turmoil in the central and
local governments of the Eastern Jin dynasty.
In 327 AD, two generals who commanded
armies within the local governments joined forces to launch a rebellion. These
generals were Su Jun and Zu Yue.
This rebel army was extremely powerful. In
328 AD, they captured the capital, Jiankang, and burned down the imperial
palace. Su Jun and Zu Yue did not kill the eight-year-old king, but they gained
complete control of the central government.
Following the outbreak of the rebellion,
Wen Qiao immediately summoned numerous military generals from the Eastern Jin
Dynasty who were both powerful and loyal. He told them that Su Jun and Zu Yue
had aiding each other and then committing evil deeds together. They had seized
control of the capital, burned the imperial palace, captured the king, and
murdered many loyal ministers in the central government. They had also killed
many civilians. Their actions were infuriating and heartbreaking. We must form
a united army immediately to launch a counterattack against the rebels and
reclaim our capital.
Thanks to Wen Qiao's efforts, a united army
of more than ten generals was successfully assembled.
The literal translation of this idiom is 'aiding each other and then committing evil deeds together'.
It is used to describe a group of people
who come together to commit evil deeds.
