Confucius said:
'We should remember the age of our parents.
When we think of our parents' age, a person of high moral character should feel
joy at their parents' longevity, but at the same time, they should also feel
fear.
Some Chinese scholars have expressed their
views on these words of Confucius.

scholars believe that he said them because he believed that everyone should
respect and care for their parents.

我們應該記得父母親的年紀，我們在想到父母親的年紀的時候，一個品德高尚的人應該會因為父母親的年紀的增長而感到歡喜，這個人同時也會因為父母親的年紀的增長而感到恐懼。
