The founder of the Han dynasty was Liu
Bang. His Han kingdom defeated all the others in the chaotic era that followed
the fall of the Qin dynasty.
Many generals fought alongside him and
advised him during the establishment of the Han dynasty. Two notable figures
among them were Xiao He and Cao Can, whose stories are recorded in historical
texts.
In their youth, both Xiao He and Cao Can
served as low-ranking Qin Dynasty officials responsible for clerical work. They
lived monotonous and repetitive lives like ordinary people.
In 210 BC, Ying Zheng, the founder of the
Qin dynasty, died. A year later, many rebellions began to emerge in China. The
two largest forces were the Chu Kingdom, led by Xiang Yu, and the Han Kingdom,
led by Liu Bang.
During this chaotic period, Xiao He and Cao
Can made their choice: they both chose to join Liu Bang's camp.
Xiao He was a loyal and cautious advisor.
His suggestions were often insightful, and he executed them well, earning him
Liu Bang's complete trust.
Cao Can accompanied Han Xin, the bravest
general of the Han dynasty, on numerous campaigns. He was exceptionally brave
and skilled in battle, achieving much in the military.
In 202 BC, the Han Dynasty, led by Liu
Bang, unified China.
Xiao He realised that the harsh laws of the
Qin Dynasty had led to popular uprisings. He helped Liu Bang to establish a
simple yet just legal system which was widely accepted by the people.
Although Cao Can commanded an army, he
remained extremely loyal to Liu Bang. Before his death, Xiao He recommended Cao
Can for the position of prime minister in the Han Dynasty. Cao Can implemented
the systems designed by Xiao He thoroughly.
Under the governance of Xiao He and Cao
Can, the politics and economy of the Han Dynasty gradually stabilised after an
initial period of chaos.
These two men were the greatest ministers
of the Han dynasty in the 30 years following its establishment. Their
descendants reaped the benefits of their influence, and their families were held
in high regard by the people for their loyalty.
There are many interesting measure words in
Chinese. This idiom uses one such measure word, which literally means 'era',
but actually represents 30 years.
This may be because, based on statistics,
the Chinese observed that people typically had children around the age of 30 at
that time, thus using 30 years as a specific unit of time.

在這段4年多的時間內，劉邦領導的漢王國與項羽所領導的楚王國之間發生了很多場戰爭。
蕭何知道因為秦王朝的法律太過嚴苛，所以人民才會組成許多革命軍反抗政府，他協助劉邦建立的一套規則簡單但公義的法令制度，人民們對於這套制度的接受度非常的高。
曹參雖然掌握著軍隊，但是他劉邦始終保持得極度的忠誠。蕭何臨死之前推薦曹參擔任漢王朝的宰相，曹嵾遵循蕭何生前所設計的制度並且徹底落實。
在蕭何與曹參的管理之下，漢王朝的政治與經濟從建立之初的混亂開始慢慢走向安定。
他們兩個人是漢王朝建立後的30年間最偉大的大臣，他們的子孫也受到他們的庇蔭，他們的家族成員也因為他們的忠誠而受到百姓們的尊重。
