(We share the same beliefs, thoughts, direction and principles of action.)

We share the same beliefs, thoughts, direction and principles of action.(同心同德)

In Chinese history, there was a dynasty called the Jin (1115–1234 AD). The main territory of the Jin dynasty covered what is now northern and north-eastern China. Its founder was Wanyan Aguda, about whom history books record a story.

In the early days of the Jin dynasty, Wanyan Aguda's power base was not yet fully established. One day, he received a report from a senior minister saying, "According to my intelligence, several army generals are plotting a rebellion. What should we do?"

Upon hearing this, Wanyan Aguda began to consider how to handle the situation. He thought about how to solve the problem in the simplest and least costly way.

A few days later, he convened a meeting and summoned all the present generals.

Shortly after the meeting began, he specifically named the generals plotting the rebellion and invited them to the centre of the room.

Standing before the generals who wanted to rebel, he pointed to all the generals in the room and smiled, saying to those who wanted to rebel:

'I was able to establish the Jin Dynasty and lead us all to such vast lands thanks to the efforts of everyone present. We share the same beliefs, thoughts, direction and principles of action. That's why we've grown stronger day by day.

I've heard that some of you are planning a rebellion. If you are truly intent on rebelling, then I support your decision. Rest assured that you will retain control of your armies and be free to carry out your plan.

However, before you rebel, you must think carefully. If your rebellion fails, I will not forgive any of you.

"If you no longer wish to rebel and you promise to remain loyal to me and maintain the current situation, then I will forgive you and act as if this matter never happened."

After delivering this speech calmly, Wanyan Aguda looked at the generals who had wanted to rebel.

They trembled with fear and were unable to speak.

Wanyan Aguda had successfully resolved the crisis.

This idiom means that we share the same beliefs, thoughts, direction and principles of action.

It is used to describe a group of people who share the same beliefs, thoughts, direction and principles of action.

Dear friend, what are your thoughts or feelings after hearing this story?

If you were Wanyan Aguda, how would you handle the situation? Could you come up with a better way to handle the crisis?

I hope this story has given you some new insights.
